Overview

The Oil and Gas Accountant will be responsible for managing accounting functions specific to the oil and gas sector, including joint interest billing, revenue distribution, lease operating expenses, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of oil and gas accounting principles, GAAP, and industry software.

Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to oil and gas operations.
• Manage joint interest billing (JIB) processes and resolve discrepancies with partners.
• Reconcile revenue and production data with internal and external sources.
• Monitor and report on lease operating expenses and capital expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, SEC reporting, and GAAP accounting standards.
• Coordinate audits and prepare audit schedules for oil and gas assets.
• Maintain accurate records of production, sales, and royalties.
• Collaborate with other departments such as land, production, and operations for financial data accuracy.
• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts related to oil and gas projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in oil and gas accounting or related financial roles.
• Proficient with accounting software specific to the oil and gas industry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
