We have an exceptional civil litigation opportunity at a very popular and top-tier international firm. This elite firm has exclusively engaged us to assist in its search for a mid-to-senior level associate for its diverse commercial litigation practice.

After a video meeting with several of the firm’s litigation partners, we learned the following:

The Work and Responsibility:

The position involves pure litigation—excluding investigations unless directly tied to a filed matter. The group handles securities, financial institutions, healthcare, insurance litigation, appellate, and more. Associates will have ample opportunities to manage cases, take ownership of briefs, oversee discovery, take depositions, and argue in court. The caseload ranges from large class actions to smaller, high-impact matters.

Culture and Partner Exposure:

The litigation team is moderately sized, fostering a close-knit environment where everyone knows each other. Partner accessibility is strong, with an open-door, collaborative, and team-oriented culture. The broader firm is known for its down-to-earth, engaging lawyers who maintain interests outside of work.

This firm has a strong track record of promoting from within. Partners are deeply invested in associate development, and all hires are made with a long-term perspective. With a substantive counsel level and non-equity partner tier, opportunities for advancement are often more attainable compared to peer firms.

Reasonable Billable Hours:

Billable expectations (including pro bono) typically range from 2,000–2,200 hours annually, with many associates falling at the lower end of that range.

Minimum Requirements:

  • You must have a federal district court clerkship or a federal circuit court clerkship.
  • You must have practiced at a top-tier large law firm or boutique, or at the DOJ.
  • You must currently devote the large majority of your practice to civil litigation (excluding investigations, criminal, or appellate work).

The firm offers top-of-market compensation (new Cravath scale) for salary and bonuses.
