Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing and executing the human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This includes overseeing talent acquisition and retention, organizational design and development, performance management, policy and program development, compensation and benefits, payroll, employee relations, compliance, M&A, HRIS and reporting. The Human Resources Manager serves as a key advisor to senior leadership and ensures that the company’s HR policies and programs align with business goals while fostering a high-performance culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction in HR policies, programs and practices.
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure HR initiatives support business objectives.
  • Drive cultural transformation and change management efforts.
  • Fosters a positive workplace culture and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Work directly with the C-suite to design and maintain the company’s global compensation framework, making sure pay practices are competitive and consistent across countries.
  • Lead the annual salary review cycle by pulling market data, reviewing recommendations from managers, preparing the final summary for executive and board approval, preparing individual change letters for distribution, and ensuring the changes are accurately reflected in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Manage the annual bonus process and salary review; gather input from managers, consolidate data, prepare documents for the COO and C-suite, and finalize presentations for the board.
  • Track executive KPIs throughout the year and prepare the annual reporting package that determines bonus payouts and salary adjustments.
  • Assist with the administration of the share program; collect and maintain signed documents.
  • Prepare adhoc reporting for the board, including headcount, turnover, HSE working hours etc., ensuring the data is accurate and timely.
  • Lead any merger and acquisition activity; conduct due diligence on employees, policies payroll and benefits, prepare the HR integration plan, and executive workforce transitions after close.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation in all jurisdictions; complete required filings such as forced labor reporting, workers’ compensation reporting, DEI, hours of work, and ESG submissions.
  • Oversee all immigration activity, either directly preparing visa petitions or through external immigration counsel, ensuring foreign workers always maintain proper valid work authorization.
  • Respond to legal complaints or government inquiries (EEOC, Human Rights, etc.), conduct investigations and coordinate responses with external or internal legal teams.
  • Oversee senior recruiting efforts: build the business case for new hires, secure approvals, conduct compensation analysis, coordinating interviews, participating in the decision discussions, draft offer letters, and handle the full recruitment process for professional and executive-level roles.
  • Manage attraction and retention programs including continuing education reimbursements, referral bonuses, internships, anniversary programs etc.
  • Lead succession planning and oversee leadership development, mentoring programs, and the annual performance review cycle through ADP Workforce Now.
  • Create and deliver leadership training programs and support DEI initiatives by implementing and tracking specific projects.
  • Manage all benefit programs across countries, working with brokers and providers, reviewing market options, preparing renewal comparisons, and presenting recommendations to the C-suite.
  • Support reorganizations and business realignments by working closely with legal and executive leadership during downturns and layoffs.
  • Handle complex employee relations matters: lead investigations, gather documentation, recommend resolutions, and ensure compliance with local labor laws.
  • Sit down with managers to review potential terminations, confirm appropriate investigations have been completed, and lead the termination meetings.
  • Partner with HSE and managers to manage workers’ compensation claims from start to finish.
  • Review and approve all payrolls globally, confirming accuracy of data and compliance with local requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain annual payroll calendars, holiday schedules, and other HR documentation.
  • Oversee ADP Workforce Now updates and configuration, including maintaining the homepage, implementing changes, and implementing new portals (e.g., performance management, open enrollment, recruitment etc.).
  • Oversee and administer the Concur Expense & Travel Management program, contract renewal negotiations, reporting, adding/removing users, updating policies, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Review and approve government leave applications such as EI, and FMLA etc.
  • Maintain and conduct regular HR audits to ensure accurate employee records, including contracts, I-9s, work permits, job descriptions, and signed policies.
  • Draft, issue, and track consulting agreements, monitor expiration dates, and coordinate renewals with the appropriate departments.
  • Review and update employee handbooks in each country, making sure they reflect both company policies and local legislation.
  • Oversee the background screening process for new hires, ensuring all required checks are complete before starting dates.
  • Coordinate executive town halls, gather content from leadership, and prepare presentations.
  • Work with managers to run ad hoc compensation projects, such as cost analysis or retention studies, salary scales etc.
  • Participate in any grant applications tied to government funding, wage subsidies or workforce development programs.
  • Lead and coach HR team members across multiple countries and timezones, ensuring consistent practices and compliance while adapting to local requirements.
  • Set clear goals, priorities and accountabilities for HR team, review progress through regular check-ins and team meetings.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for HR team.
  • Performs other projects and responsibilities as required to support HR operations globally.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in HR management, with a least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing global HR operations.
  • SHRM & CPHR designations an asset or working towards designation.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee relations practices across multiple jurisdictions, including investigation protocols, conflict resolution, and compliance with diverse labor laws.
  • Expert in global payroll practices, including multi-country payroll cycles, statutory reporting, and compliance with local wage laws.
  • Proven experience managing global benefits programs, including renewals, vendor negotiations, market benchmarking, and implementing competitive and compliant offerings.
  • Strong understanding of international employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR teams across different countries and time zones.
  • Experience supporting executive compensation, annual bonus cycles, and long-term incentive plans.
  • Skilled in HRIS and payroll system administration (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Concur) to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and data-driven reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing HR strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Practical knowledge of operations, company policies and government regulations.
  • Exceptional prioritization & organizational skills with an ability to work independently in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Exceptional Microsoft office and computer application skills (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred but not required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with HR matters.
