Lutheran Social Service of MN is seeking a seasoned HR professional with proven experience as a strategic and knowledgeable HR business leader for the position of Vice President, HR. The successful candidate will lead a staff of 11 HR professionals and manage a budget of over $2 million. This executive role provides leadership to the HR function and involves developing strategies that support the organization’s multi-year goals for service innovation, health outcomes, and its commitment to Social Justice and Anti-Racism initiatives.

The VP of HR will serve as a member of the CEO's Cabinet, advise the executive team, and act as the primary HR Business Partner to senior leadership.

Primary roles and responsibilities include:

  1. Providing leadership to the HR staff;
  2. Developing and leading the strategic direction of the organization's HR practices;
  3. Managing HR functions such as talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, engagement, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and workforce analytics;
  4. Supporting initiatives related to Anti-Racism and Social Justice;
  5. Exhibiting behaviors that reflect the LSS mission and commitment to Trustworthiness, Social Justice, and Racial Equity.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BA or MBA, preferably in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Business Administration.
  • Work Experience: At least 7 years of senior leadership experience overseeing HR functions, including legal compliance, staffing, compensation, benefits, learning and development, and HRIS/LMS systems. Experience in Organizational Development practices to achieve operational excellence in complex environments is preferred.
