All About Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage team ensures product is fresh, in stock, available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. They lead operations, processes and efficiency for food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing and promotional signing across Food & Beverage areas.

Role: Starbucks Barista

Role purpose: Provide a consistent Starbucks experience, ensure food quality and freshness, and uphold food safety standards in alignment with Target and Starbucks standards.

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and building a guest-first culture in Starbucks
• Ability to deliver a consistent Starbucks experience with handcrafted products
• Experience with food quality, freshness management and knowledge of state/federal food safety and OSHA guidelines

Typical Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional guest experience with quality handcrafted beverages and food during all hours of operation
• Maintain execution of Food & Beverage Standards, Starbucks brand standards and food safety standards
• Execute food and beverage processes including deliveries, replenishment, stocking, zoning, in-stocks, rotation, cleaning, signing and backstock
• Monitor promotional activities and follow Target/Starbucks routines to ensure a consistent experience while driving efficiency
• Support Drive Up and digital order fulfillment; maintain inviting dining area
• Engage with guests to meet and exceed expectations; solve issues using Starbucks tools
• Prepare items to production specifications; follow department routines
• Monitor temperature-sensitive items; complete and record cleaning tasks
• Follow packaging, labeling and food safety requirements; identify damaged, recalled or expired items
• Maintain in-stocks and perishable inventory procedures; execute sampling best practices
• Provide a welcoming guest experience and assist with guest services as needed
• Complete required Starbucks trainings and uphold safety and compliance standards
• Adhere to safety policies and create a safe working environment
• Support back-up cashier, order pickup, and Drive-up duties; comply with applicable adult beverage laws
• All other duties based on business needs

Skills and Experience (Basic Requirements)

• Previous Starbucks/food service experience preferred but not required
• Welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and teammates
• Ability to communicate across devices and operate scanners and technology
• Ability to work independently or in a team; resolve guest questions quickly
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes
• Remain focused in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks

Working Basics

• Accurate cash handling as needed
• Ladder climbing; safe handling and movement of merchandise up to 44 pounds
• Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Ability to work in environments from 34°F to -10°F and in areas with allergens
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (Drive-Up, carryout, etc.)
• Mobility for the duration of shift; shift length may vary
