Analog Photonics is a Boston-based technology company specializing in advanced, large-scale, high-performance photonic and electronic application-specific integrated circuits. We leverage our proprietary silicon photonic platform to serve the automotive lidar and data communications markets with innovative, chip-scale solutions. Our portfolio includes state-of-the-art silicon photonics-based designs, including the world's best optical phased arrays. These designs are fabricated in a 300mm CMOS foundry using a proprietary platform optimized for low cost, high reliability, and high yield.

Overview

We’re seeking a self-starting hardware design engineer for our automotive LiDAR business area. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for capturing electrical requirements, designing and testing complex mixed-signal PCBs, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience in digital and analog design, low-noise circuits, FPGAs, controls, and some knowledge of electro-optics or photonics. Strong communication skills, an open mind, and a collaborative spirit are essential.

Join us if you:

  • Are interested in working in a fast-growing startup
  • Are enthusiastic about disruptive silicon photonics in automotive LiDAR
  • Thrive in dynamic team environments

Skill Requirements

  • Design and testing of low-noise circuits
  • Experience with high-speed ADCs and DACs
  • Experience with FPGAs
  • Basic knowledge of control systems
  • Managing manufacturing and production of boards and modules
  • Designing complex systems amidst risk and uncertainty

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on engineering and prototyping skills
  • Schematic capture and layout of analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed designs (Altium preferred)
  • Ability to select ICs and guide architecture decisions
  • Knowledge of SPICE, MATLAB, or other simulation tools
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years or Master’s with 5+ years of experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in several of these areas:

  • Mixed-signal PCB design
  • Electro-optic systems, especially LiDAR
  • Digital communication protocols (USB, Ethernet, RGMII/SGMII, I2C, SPI, UART)
  • FPGA design and debugging, especially Xilinx devices
