Position Description
The Mechanical Assembly Technician will perform work using assembly drawings, shop aids, schematics, and detailed work instructions. This role requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches, and to follow both written and verbal instructions. Duties range from repetitive to non-repetitive developmental assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, including ordnance systems. The technician will also assist mechanical engineers in the development, testing, fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical designs and components.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble electronic and/or mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions Perform developmental and production assembly operations, varying from repetitive to complex tasks Support mechanical engineers in the design, fabrication, modification, testing, and assembly of engineering projects Collaborate with engineers and other team members to identify, define, and solve developmental problems Independently assemble electromechanical and/or electronic systems and prototypes from development documentation Follow safety, quality, and detail-oriented standards in all work Be able and willing to work additional hours, including weekends, as required
Skills Required
Experience using hand tools Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs Ability to diagnose problems and see solutions through to completion Detail, safety, and quality oriented Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new software applications Strong communication and teamwork skills
Skills Preferred
Understanding of 3D CAD software Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles
Experience Required
At least 3 years of work experience, or equivalent, in a precision manufacturing environment
Experience Preferred
Experience as a technician in an aerospace or defense product environment
Education Required
High school diploma, trade school, or equivalent
