Sterling Engineering is partnering with a well-established global manufacturer with over 100 years of history to hire a Design Engineer for their Product Engineering group. This is a long-term contract opportunity that has the potential to convert into a direct full-time role.
Job Responsibilities:
Create precise and detailed 3D models in Solid Edge using reference drawings provided by the engineering team.
Work alongside engineers and designers to resolve incomplete or ambiguous design details in legacy documentation.
Produce updated technical drawings in Solid Edge, ensuring full compliance with company and ASME Y14.5 standards.
Participate in cross-functional meetings both virtually and in-person as needed.
Maintain consistent attendance and communicate effectively with team members across departments.
Support other duties as needed in alignment with the goals of the product engineering team.
Assist in the design and development of new parts and assemblies.
Plan and execute mechanical and electrical testing activities in line with project deadlines.
Analyze test data to create summaries and engineering reports with actionable insights.
Collaborate with lab personnel to carry out product evaluations.
Apply structured problem-solving techniques to improve product quality and reliability.
Support customers by addressing application-specific questions and technical issues.
Travel to customer sites or conduct phone consultations to troubleshoot design or performance concerns.
Prepare detailed technical reports for returned or field-failed components.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product or design environment.
CAD Tools: Solid Edge ; SolidWorks experience also considered.
Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, particularly ASME Y14.5.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting and independently when required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
