Job Responsibilities Serves as confidential executive and personal executive assistant to the Attorney General. Under minimal supervision, performs specialized and complex administrative duties for the Attorney General.

  • Serves as the primary contact for the Attorney General and various internal and external groups. Handles personal administrative tasks for the Attorney General, including preparing executive correspondence, directives, reports, and legislation. Ensures the distribution of accurate and timely information. Maintains files for the Attorney General. Review and coordinate executive outreach, solicit agency input on issues, and prepare responses or take necessary actions on routine matters. Acts as a liaison between the Attorney General and office staff, legislative, and judiciary members.
  • Receives Office staff members, Legislature, Governor's staff, State agency heads, public officials, and private citizens; offers assistance in the Attorney General's absence. Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming inquiries, issues, complaints, and concerns directed to the Attorney General, including those of a sensitive nature. Conducts research and determines the appropriate course of action, referral, or response. Provides leadership in building relationships and supports the cultivation of positive, ongoing relationships that are vital to the success of the Agency. Maintains discretion and confidentiality in all relationships.
  • Plans and manages the scheduling of all travel, meetings, appointments, and speaking engagements for the Attorney General. Organizes meetings and sets agendas, participates in discussions to provide consultation and historical context for decision-making. Ensures the Attorney General's schedule is adhered to and respected.
  • Tracks and completes annual ethics compliance and state mileage report.
  • Performs special assignments involving complex, detailed, and often confidential matters. Coordinates special projects as required by the Attorney General.
  • Oversees mentoring and performance management activities of the Executive intern. Ensures all duties are completed on time and competently. Provides daily guidance to staff as needed and reviews work products.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Deputy Attorney General and Attorney General.

Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree and 18 years of experience OR an associate's degree and 20 years of experience Additional Requirements:
  • Position may require working evenings and weekends.
  • Position may require travel.

  • Knowledge of functions, organizations, laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to the agency.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of effective public relations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state legislative processes.
  • Ability to conduct complex analyses and interpretations and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with agency executives, government officials, and the general public.
  • Strong attention to detail.
