Position Overview Sheridan Correctional Center is looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Office Coordinator to work in the Business Office. The person selected for this position will serve as administrative secretary and perform a multitude of clerical functions, including maintaining a filing system. - Serves as an administrative secretary.
- Performs a variety of secretarial functions.
- Performs a multitude of clerical functions.
- Maintains a filing system.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, or two (2) years of independent business experience.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience serving in a secretarial role.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience gathering and interpreting data and preparing reports on same.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience preparing confidential and sensitive information and materials.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience conducting special projects and studies.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience coordinating workflow to and from a supervisory office.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience composing and keyboarding various types of correspondence including letters, memos, schedules, charts, legal documents, contracts, reports, etc.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience proofreading materials for grammar, punctuation and format.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience maintaining reports, records and filing systems.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience answering phones, taking messages, scheduling meetings, receiving visitors, making travel reservations and ordering supplies.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
- Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
