Overview
NKY Director of Regional Advocacy & Engagement. The Director of Regional Advocacy and Engagement with Kentucky Nonprofit Network (KNN) supports Northern Kentucky by building and nurturing diverse advocacy coalitions that amplify the collective voice of the charitable nonprofit sector. The role drives policy changes, partnerships, and the recruitment of KNN memberships to create a unified advocacy voice and a collaborative coalition for nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve. KNN is a small but impactful organization expanding its team to engage, partner, and collaborate with new and existing members in Northern Kentucky. Responsibilities
Launch and facilitate KNN's Northern Kentucky Nonprofit Coalition, a local alliance of KNN members, and support public policy advocacy and collaboration/coalition-building among nonprofits in the target communities. Engage and inspire diverse stakeholders; facilitate Coalition meetings and relevant events; manage discussions on conflicts of interest among members, partners, etc. Develop and support training and resources that build capacity of nonprofits (advocacy trainings, impact reports, etc.); collaborate with KNN staff on event logistics and marketing. Serve as a Coalition ambassador and point of contact with other local and regional organizations; synthesize and communicate information as needed. Collaborate to create a collaborative and inclusive team environment and engage in social media to highlight the Coalition and its members. Engage in regional travel for occasional meetings and events; be located in Northern Kentucky. Qualifications
Current or former nonprofit executive with deep understanding of nonprofit sector challenges and experience at a director level. Understanding of public policy advocacy and local legislative processes; proven track record in coalition-building, advocacy, and/or community organizing. Ability to maintain nonpartisan relationships with elected and appointed public officials; strong judgment and decision-making skills. Commitment to equitable access, inclusion of diverse voices, and the benefits of diversity in boards, volunteers, stakeholders, and participants. Ability to articulate the benefits of local coalition membership to nonprofit colleagues and to sell membership and a united nonprofit sector vision. Experience in building and supporting nonprofit coalitions; ability to inspire and coach nonprofit leaders to engage in advocacy and coalition participation. Strong prioritization, strategic thinking, and adaptability to shifting priorities; manage multiple action steps and opportunities effectively. Excellent facilitation and communication skills (written and verbal) for diverse audiences.
