The State Bar of Arizona is hiring an Intake Attorney to help uphold the integrity of the legal profession. In this role, you’ll review concerns about attorney conduct, perform investigative duties under Supreme Court Rules, assist the public and legal community with discipline-related inquiries, and help resolve issues early in the process. Base pay range: $108,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr Duties and Responsibilities
Responds to written, telephonic and in-person inquiries to the State Bar of Arizona regarding attorney misconduct. Addresses consumer concerns regarding attorney conduct. Contacts complainants, respondents and other necessary persons to evaluate the allegations of misconduct. Conducts prescreening investigation to determine if there has been a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct; determines whether a charge can be resolved through Intake; resolves charges that would not result in a formal sanction. Coordinates with and refers inquiries to other agencies and programs, as appropriate. Provides education and information to the public and members of the Bar regarding the Arizona attorney discipline system. Tracks statistical information regarding operation of the program and compiles reports as requested by Lawyer Regulation management. Coordinates investigative needs and functions with the investigative team. Meets with Bar Counsel to discuss interaction between Intake and Litigation counsel. Screens and evaluates potential referrals to Litigation, Fee Arbitration or other related programs. Acts as liaison to assigned State Bar committees and other agencies or entities. Develops and presents CLE programs. Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively in coordination with human resources. Performs related duties as assigned and may perform litigation bar counsel duties as necessary. Education and Experience
J.D. required. A minimum of five (5) years of successful practical legal experience; solo practitioner or small law firm experience preferred. Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona. Skills and Abilities
Compliance with internal procedures and external regulations; bring compliance issues to management attention. Familiarity with the Rules of Professional Conduct. Knowledge of dispute resolution methods and techniques. Excellent legal research and writing skills. Ability to work effectively with staff, Board, Supreme Court, legislation, members, and the public. Good judgment and the ability to take appropriate action on cases. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Excellent listening skills and strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Flexibility in schedule to meet business needs. Self-starter who can work independently and with teams.
