Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion should be noted, as applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens cannot be recruited. Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school. Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency programs include ACGME, AOA, or other approved programs with at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. Residents enrolled in accredited programs are eligible as 'Physician Resident Providers' (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis, not considered independent practitioners, and work under supervision. Surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Preferred: Board certified or eligible by ABA; experience or training in anesthesia for complex cardiac procedures (e.g., CABG, TAVR). Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, reaching, using fingers and hands, walking, standing, kneeling, and vision and hearing capabilities. Duties

The Harry S. The position includes: Providing anesthesia care across multiple clinical areas. Conducting pre-operative assessments and physical exams. Administering anesthesia, monitoring during procedures, and supporting post-op care. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and completing administrative duties.
