We are lookingfor a salaried GP working for our friendly, busy, town centre practice. This will include consultations (either, face to face, via telephone or e-consults), home visits and administration. About us

We are a busy friendly surgery based in the market town of Haverhill Suffolk. We are within walking distance of the town centre and main bus station. Haverhill Family Practice is part of the Haverhill PCN. We are a five partner practice with our clinical team comprising of a salaried GP, regular GP locums, Advanced Care Practitioners (ACP's), Paramedics, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and a Pharmacy team. We also have an in-house First Contact Physiotherapist and Mental Health Workers who are linked to the surgery. In addition to our normal GP services, we provide a minor surgery clinic and vaccinations clinics. Quarterly training sessions are provided by Suffolk & North Essex Integrated Care Board and the surgery closed for one afternoon so that all clinical staff can attend. We also offer monthly Lunch & Learn sessions and in-house learning / clinical update sessions. We are a friendly, busy surgery with excellent staff retention. We are an approved GP Training Practice and currently have three GP trainees. We will also be hosting trainee nurses and Year 6 Medical students. Our current list size is 20,250 patents. Job Summary and scope We are lookingfor a salaried GP working for our friendly, busy, town centre practice. This willinclude, but is not limited to, surgery and telephone consultations, homevisits, administration, complying with the practices contracts (PMS/enhancedservices), and the education and training of junior/trainee clinical staff. Key responsibilities clinical Caring for patients Practise evidence-based medicine,in line with national and locally agreed guidelines Conduct patient consultationsduring the practices clinical appointment hours Undertake duty consultations ona rota basis Triage patients presenting tothe practice in person, by telephone and E-Consults. Conduct telephoneconsultations and home visits as appropriate Check and sign repeatprescription requests Check, manage and processpatient test results Prescribe in line with localand national guidelines Refer patients tosecondary/urgent care and additional interventions as appropriate Manage long-term conditionsand patients with complex problems Promote healthy livingstrategies and give health and wellbeing advice, generally encouraging patientsto follow a healthy lifestyle Carry out patient testing andscreening as required Make autonomous clinicaldecisions relating to patients health needs Communication with patients Use communication that isappropriate to the situation, including: communicating sensitively withpatients and carers when delivering bad news Establishing appropriatecommunication methods to suit patients and carers level of understanding,cultural/language needs, and preferred communication method Anticipating and overcomingbarriers to communication, seeking support from other staff members wherenecessary Use appropriate communicationskills and style to make patients aware of risk, to obtain consent wherenecessary, and to ensure patients comply with treatment Delivering high-quality services Provide services to thepractices patient population to the highest possible standard, in line withcompetencies and professional code of conduct Monitor and maintain thestandard of care provided, taking appropriate action if standards are not met,through self- and peer-review, benchmarking and evaluation Undertake clinical governanceand clinical audit activities to ensure the continual improvement of servicedelivery Participate in reviewing andresponding to complaints, significant events, andother shared learning activities within a structured framework Support and mentor staff intraining to ensure they deliver the highest standards of care Support the performance ofteam members and collaborate in improving the quality of healthcare and serviceprovision, in line with local and national policy and strategy Work within the practiceslegal framework for identifying vulnerable patients and applying policiesrelating to treatment of vulnerable patients Key responsibilities non-clinical Practice-related duties Process medical reports,referrals and correspondence Record and collect data foraudit purposes Make timely, clear,computer-based records of consultations and contact with patients Maintain administrativerecords relating to the practice contract, enhanced services and QOF Contribute to providing asupportive environment for other staff through informal catch-ups and contact Attend and contribute toin-house meetings, including clinical, educational/training-related andadministrative meetings Attend meetings and eventsheld by external agencies and stakeholders Contribute to teaching andtraining clinical staff as appropriate Personal and professional development Comply with the GMC Code ofConduct Prepare for and completeannual external appraisals Prepare for and completerevalidation process Act as a mentor and positiverole model to students and junior members of staff, sharing information andgood practice Prioritise own workload andcollaborate effectively with others to prioritise team and practice workload Keep a portfolio andpotentially develop a special interest Undertake training as requiredto ensure competencies for delivering all responsibilities, to meet personal,statutory and practice education and learning needs, including keeping recordsof learning, reflection, complaints and feedback Keep up to date with currentevidence-based approaches to patient care and service delivery, in line withNICE and the National Service Framework Undertake and contribute toeducation activities, such as reviewing significantevents, clinical audit, protected learning time, video analysis ofconsultations, etc Contribute to education andtraining of trainee clinical staff and students Other important aspects of the role Maintaining con

dentiality The salaried GPwill, as an integral part of and in the course of carrying out his/her role,have access to confidential and sometimes sensitive information relating topatients, carers and family members, as well as similar information aboutcolleagues. The salaried GP will also have access to confidentialcommercial information about the practice and its business. All suchinformation, in whatever format and howsoever made available, must be treatedwith the strictest confidence. All suchinformation held both within and outside of the practice will be shared only asnecessary, and in accordance with the practices confidentiality/data-sharingpolicies, and in line with data protection legislation and the Freedom ofInformation Act. Qualifications

Fully qualified GP eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS. MBBS or equivalent medical degree. National Performers List Registration. Experience with SystmOne (or similar) clinical system. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
