Carrying out demonstrations of Molecular Devices’ line of plate reader instruments and SoftMax Pro software

Delivering technical presentations to customers

Providing customer trainings and troubleshooting as requested by the Sales team and management.

This position reports to the Field Applications Manager – Plate Reader and is part of the Sales organization l ocated in North America and will be fully remote based in the San Francisco, CA area. What you will do in this role

Provide scientific, technical, and applications support during pre- and post-sales activities.

Schedule and manage instrument and software demonstrations, instrument installations, and customer trainings as required.

Support the sales team by using critical thinking to identify customer needs and to demonstrate the correct product solutions to meet those needs and help customers in rationalizing equipment purchase by providing assistance in assay development, data generation, report preparation, and presenting results.

Promote customer satisfaction by providing product and application information, answering inquiries, investigating complaints and taking appropriate action and serve as a “Voice of customer”.

Partner with Sales colleagues in generating sales leads by developing customer relationships and collaborations to facilitate the preparation of materials for technical materials, seminars, scientific meetings and other publications.

Essential requirements

A Master’s degree in Biological Sciences with 2 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.

Minimum 4 years of direct hands-on experience with microplate reader-based assays

This position will be home office-based and the candidate must be located in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Exceptional analytical, organizational, time management, communications, and presentation skills to provide and prioritize excellent pre- & post-sales support, in close collaboration with the North America field-based sales team and internal customer support teams in a vibrant commercial environment

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

Ability to travel up to 75%, including overnight as needed.

Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 45lb

Nice to have

Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent

Experience working with SpectraMax plate readers, SoftMax Pro software or similar platforms, particularly within GLP/GMP & Regulated Laboratory environments

Prior Field Application Scientist experience

The salary range for this role is $ 85,000.00 USD - 110,000.00 USD . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
