Specialty Nurse - Neurology (Finance)
The Nemours Nursing Team is seeking a Neurology Specialty Nurse! This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. The Neurology Specialty Nurse is responsible for a specialized area of nursing practice and will partner with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care. Responsibilities include phone triage, scheduling questions, insurance authorization, communication with families through Nemours portal messages, and patient and family education in clinic or via phone regarding Neurology diagnoses and medications. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to provide and evaluate care. Candidates should have excellent time management skills, be proactive, work well in teams, and have a desire to engage in neurology patient care. Knowledge of devices such as Vagal nerve stimulators and glucometers is also essential. Responsibilities: Perform ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient progress, revising interdisciplinary care plans as needed. Identify patient/family needs for resources and initiate appropriate teaching or referrals. Respond to patient phone calls, explaining treatment regimens after consulting with physicians or providers. Share clinical knowledge with the healthcare team and collaborate with Nursing Education to share subspecialty knowledge. Act as a liaison between families and healthcare team members. Apply specialized nursing knowledge and skills related to neurology, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and protocols. Participate in developing standards of care for the neurology patient population. Provide proficient care across all age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. Recognize personal learning needs and pursue professional development, setting goals for growth. Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives, recommending and implementing improvements aligned with Nemours Foundation goals.
