Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Opportunity Our confidential client is seeking a high-performing Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team in Arlington, Texas during a critical growth phase. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will play a pivotal role in building the finance team, strengthening systems, and guiding the firm through its next five to ten years of significant expansion. This is an on-site executive role requiring a leader who can combine strategic vision with operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
– Develop and lead long-term financial planning, continuously refining forecasts (short-term through 24 months) to anticipate capital needs and support aggressive growth objectives.
Investment & M&A Support
– Build financial models, perform risk analyses, and lead due diligence for acquisitions, ensuring seamless post-acquisition integration and performance tracking.
Financial Reporting & Controls
– Oversee monthly closings, audits, and board-ready financial statements; ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Performance Management
– Establish and track financial KPIs across departments; design dashboards to improve transparency, accountability, and decision-making.
Cash Flow & Capital Management
– Maintain visibility on daily cash positions, optimize working capital, and manage debt structures, credit facilities, and capital allocation.
Relationship Management
– Build strong partnerships with banks, lenders, consultants, insurers, benefit providers, and internal stakeholders.
Team Building & Development
– Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team (Controller, FP&A, and accounting staff) to support growth and scale.
Systems & Process Optimization
– Enhance and optimize ERP and financial tools to improve automation, consistency, and reporting across the business.
Strategic Partnership
– Act as a trusted advisor and sounding board to the CEO, shaping strategy, providing insights, and modeling operational excellence.
Legal & Compliance Support
– Partner with legal, operations, and management teams on bonding, contracts, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (advanced degree or MBA preferred).
CPA or other advanced financial credentials strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 5 years in the construction industry.
Strong expertise in GAAP, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Proven experience building and leading high-performing finance and accounting teams.
Strong systems and process improvement orientation, with hands-on ERP optimization experience.
M&A expertise including financial modeling, due diligence, integration, and synergy realization.
Prior leadership experience in a scaling middle-market company
