The role involves building the open-source OS for the future of smart glasses and owning the APK that powers Mentra Live, our new camera smart glasses (shipping December). Responsibilities
Own the Android APK powering Mentra Live and help ship by December. Develop low-latency, low-power RTMP/WebRTC camera streaming capabilities for Mentra Live. Control sensors on the glasses to enable apps and provide cloud control of speakers, camera, and microphones. Maintain synchronization between the Mentra app and Mentra Live with phones via BLE (HFP/SCO/GATT). Implement power optimization strategies for all-day wear. Assist in integrating the MentraOS-Android client on other smart glasses and porting to additional platforms. Team & Background Team includes engineers with 7+ years of smart glasses experience; backgrounds at MIT Media Lab, Shenzhen, and with Steve Mann. Alumni from MIT, Google, Fitbit, Apple, and Tsinghua.
