Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

A full time Mental Health Consultant will provide infant and early childhood mental health consultation services to children under the age of 6 years enrolled in early learning centers and family child care homes in Southern Louisiana and their childcare caregivers and families. The mental health consultants (MHC) should be able to clinically conceptualize a wide variety of cases involving young children and their caregivers with challenging behaviors, attachment and/or relationship problems, developmental delays, and/or other mental health issues and make appropriate referrals. The MHC will also provide consultation and training to multidisciplinary professionals. Visits to child care providers may be made in person or remotely through a HIPAA-compliant tele-health platform. Program will provide personal protective equipment according to health department guidelines (e.g., cloth masks, hand sanitizer) for use during in person visits. Training and supervision will be provided throughout the year.

Individual and group therapy skills.
Completion of specialized training in infant mental health or capability to complete training in infant mental health. Experience in a clinical setting working with children and adults (e.g., mental health clinic, practicum placement, etc.).
Ability to provide training to other professionals, such as child care professionals or others working with young children.
Must have the necessary physical skills to complete consultations and required documentation.
Competent communication and writing skills. Flexibility and ability to organize and manage time independently Master's degree in a mental health field (e.g., social work, counseling) Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional in Louisiana Experience participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Working knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices in child care. Experience with consultation to parents, educators, and other professionals supporting young children
