Sponsored Programs Specialist
position.
SPREE advances St. Kate's mission by promoting research and scholarship; knowledge dissemination; academic program innovation; and student scholarship, loan, internship, and research opportunities. SPREE serves as the administrative unit accountable for supporting faculty, staff, and students in readying research and innovation projects, acquiring extramural funding, and appropriately administering approximately $28 million in active sponsored projects.
This position supports both pre- and post-award activities for SPREE, assisting the University community across the life-cycle of grant seeking and award receipt, from proposal development and funding search to budget and compliance administration of sponsored programs. The position manages internal grants programs, and provides critical administrative duties to strengthen the SPREE infrastructure.
Responsibilities Include:
External Grant Development and Administrative Under the guidance of the Director, maintains a portfolio of grant prospects and works to translate those into extramural support to the University. Advises faculty and staff on appropriate funding opportunities, interpreting funder interest and assessing alignment with University mission and priorities. Works with diverse teams or individual faculty/staff to develop, write, edit, prepare, and submit proposals, as assigned. Supports budget development. Ensures that all requirements in the development and submission of proposals are executed. Supports the SPREE infrastructure by carrying out administrative duties that include updating the SPREE pipeline, contributing to newsletters, setting up workshops, and tracking the SPREE email Post-Award Administration, Education, and Training
Under guidance from the Sponsored Program Manager, manage awards in portfolio with duties that include:•
Fund set-up and coordination with the business office for expense management invoicing/draw-down, and reporting. Faculty/staff education on budget management and managing their sponsored program.• Budget tracking and P-card reconciliation Supporting submission of required reporting Compliance tracking for assigned grants, including, but not limited (e.g., Time & Effort Certifications, Financial Conflicts of Interest documentation, Responsible Conduct of Research). Contributes to the development and implementation of education and training via workshops, classroom visits, 1:1 and departmental meetings.
Internal Grants Management
Manage internal pre- and post-award administration for the University's internal grants programs (e,g.; APDC, 3M, Carol Easley Denny) and serve as liaison between SPREE and Academic Professional Development Committee. Responsible for grant program communications, application processes, materials coordination, and proposal review for faculty. Responsible for post-award grant management in support of Principal Investigators. IRB Coordination and Research Compliance Tracking
Configures and maintains procedures within the Mentor IRB platform for protocol submission & management. Tracks and monitors protocols for the IRB Committee. Coordinates and facilitates IRB Committee meetings. Consults with students, advisers, faculty and staff as they fulfill IRB procedures & systems. Configures and maintains systems to track compliance requirements, including federally mandated trainings and certifications (Human Subjects Research, Responsible Conduct of Research, Financial Conflict of Interest, etc.) to ensure applicable regulations governing research are met by all Investigators/Grantees on time.
