Overview A large teaching hospital and their affiliated academic medical group in Northern California are excited to recruit a passionate and dedicated academic Neurologist to take over the role of Residency Program Director. As part of succession planning, the new Director will have the opportunity to continue the development of this exciting new program. Those who are excited about leadership, enjoy teaching, and have an interest in clinical research will be an ideal fit. Sub-specialization in Epilepsy, Neurophysiology (EEG, EMG, NCSs, EPs), Behavioral/Memory, Neuroimmunology, Headache, or Stroke can be well supported, but all clinical interests are welcome. This is an opportunity to mentor and train the next generation of neurologists in an academically driven, supportive environment, while also benefiting from the advantages of a busy and lucrative privademic setting. The medical group emphasizes collaboration and inclusion, with active involvement of all faculty members in managing the program.

Opportunity Details

350+ bed Medical Center expanding to over 500 by 2030

State of the Art Educational Training Facility including simulation labs and smart classrooms

Clinical activity: 75-90% (teaching residents and medical students) with 10-25% protected time

50%+ subspecialty focus available

Support for research and funding; potential for additional protected time

Night call covered by tele-neurology

Mon-Fri, 8-5 outpatient; no hospital call

Primary Stroke program, working towards Comprehensive Stroke Center

Dedicated Neuro-ICU to open in 2030 with new hospital expansion

Expanding epilepsy services with a 2-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

Active inpatient consultation and ward service

Opportunities for scholarly activity in accordance with ACGME requirements

Clinical Faculty Track with rank and promotion per faculty policy

Minimum 5 years of experience post-training

Minimum 3 years as academic core faculty, teaching neurology residents

Qualifications & Requirements

MD or DO degree; board-certified/board-eligible in Neurology

Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience; prior residency program leadership preferred

Ability to mentor and train residents in an academically driven environment

Ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team and support program growth

Compensation & Benefits

Guaranteed base salary plus sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and student loan repayment
