Director System Architecture and Standards

Your contribution In this strategic leadership role, you will define and evolve end-to-end architecture, ensuring alignment across hardware, software, electronics, and consumables to enable scalable, modular, and reusable technology platforms. You will own our platform modularization strategy and provide system-level technical governance, driving innovation, efficiency, and regulatory robustness across product lines. Additionally, you will oversee DevOps infrastructure and tools, ensuring standardized and efficient CI/CD pipelines and system development practices.
Define and lead the end-to-end system architecture across our platforms (mechanics, electronics, software, consumables)
Define our platform modularization strategy and long-term architectural roadmaps
Develop and maintain reference architectures, interface contracts, and design rules
Act as Design Authority, chair architecture boards, and ensure cross-project architectural integrity
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485) and support risk control
Drive architectural trade-offs and technical decisions across disciplines
Continuously improve architectural methods, tools, and practices, drive efficiency through internal R&D tooling
Support project success through technical governance, planning, and KPI tracking
Oversee the DevOps team managing CI/CD pipelines, SOUP integration, and reusable internal modules
Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Operations, and Quality to align technology and architecture with business goals
Represent Tecan in technical consortia and standardization bodies
Your background We’re not just looking for hard skills: We’re looking for people who bring their passion and talent to work.
Technical degree (Master or equivalent) in Engineering, ideally in Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, software engineering or related fields
Continuous education in systems architecture, systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE certification)
At least 10 years of experience in R&D, with 3+ years in a senior system architecture role; experience in platform development
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills (German is a plus)
Willingness to travel occasionally to Tecan sites or to attend external technical forums is required
