Dominican University’s Borra College of Health Sciences, Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Graduate Chair to teach for our new Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track beginning August 2026. This is a tenure-track position. The PMHNP Graduate Chair will coordinate and supervise the implementation of the PMHNP track year-round through a 12-month, full-time academic year appointment. This role requires professional knowledge, administrative oversight, academic policy expertise, accreditation experience, cultural sensitivity, teaching responsibilities to ensure program excellence, and student success. The PMHNP Graduate Chair will oversee all aspects of the development and implementation of this doctoral program. The Graduate Chair will collaborate with the Associate Dean of Nursing on the program plan of study, course development, curriculum alignment, and strategic initiatives, while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional growth for faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Strategic Development Lead strategic growth and development of the PMHNP program, including future initiatives. Ensure the program meets all AACN Essentials, NONPF standards, and CCNE accreditation requirements. Monitor, evaluate, and report on program outcomes and quality indicators. Oversee resource planning, budget management, and program performance metrics. Accreditation and Curriculum Coordinate all CCNE accreditation reporting requirements and site visits in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Nursing. Lead curriculum development, revision, and implementation to align with regulatory and professional standards. Serve as the PMHNP curriculum and content expert, maintaining currency in the field. Participate in the development of student handbooks, program policies, and academic procedures. Faculty and Staff Development Recruit, mentor, and support PMHNP faculty and staff. Collaborate with School of Nursing leadership to ensure faculty workload and scheduling support program success. Teaching and Advising Teach in the PMHNP program with a commitment to academic excellence (minimum 12 credit hours annually). Provide academic advising for PMHNP students, supporting professional growth and licensure readiness. Serve as the primary contact for student academic and discipline concerns. Admissions and Outreach Review applications, evaluate transcripts, and participate in admissions decisions. Support marketing, recruitment, and outreach efforts, including website updates and promotional materials. Represent the program at professional conferences, community events, and academic partnerships. Collaboration and Service Work with Admissions, Enrollment Management, and Registrar’s Office for seamless student onboarding. Support and mentor student organizations related to advanced practice nursing. Engage in university service, committee participation, and interdepartmental collaboration. Required Qualifications
The following qualifications are required unless otherwise stated: Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing or related field required. (ABD will be considered if completed by start date). Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC). Current, unencumbered RN and APRN licensure in Illinois. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice as a nurse practitioner. Demonstrated experience in higher education, accreditation processes, and curriculum development. Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Salary and FLSA Status
