Disney’s Android team
is seeking an expert Software Engineer who is excited to build apps enjoyed by millions around the world. You will build scalable, sophisticated solutions for the Android applications on Disney+ and Star+ across devices including phones, tablets, and TVs. Our highly collaborative group works with cross-functional teams. We value pristine communication, a bias for action, high code quality with unit tests, automated tests, modern libraries, and a Kotlin codebase. We strive to build the best Live and Video-on-Demand (VOD) applications in the world. Responsibilities
As an Android Engineer, you are comfortable with the Android SDK and ready to own entire features. You have a solid foundation of skills including debugging, familiarity with Android Studio, and how to maximize it. You are prepared to address moderately complex issues such as memory leaks and lifecycle issues. You understand the value of being organized, planning ahead, and accompanying features and fixes with tests and documentation. You are eager for constructive feedback from mentors and are willing to collaborate with less experienced engineers. Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience and 2+ years of production experience with Kotlin and the Android SDK
Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent job experience
Some experience with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection
Familiar with architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or equivalent)
Quality communication skills who can collaborate well across teams
Coachable and receptive to constructive feedback
Preferred Qualifications
Comfortable using common Android libraries such as Dagger 2 / Hilt, RxJava2, Groupie
A solid understanding of the core concepts of the Android SDK, Activity and Fragment lifecycles, thread management
Experience with unit testing, test automation, and continuous integration
Familiarity with Android TV and, or, Amazon Fire TV development
Familiar with writing high-quality code, tests, and documentation
Experience with Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Dependency Injection, Gradle, Databases, Reactive paradigms, coroutines

The hiring range for this position in Seattle and New York is $120,300 to $161,300 per year; in Santa Monica and Glendale is $114,900 to $154,100; and in San Francisco is $125,800 to $168,700 per year. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary by geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
