JOB DESCRIPTION
Tolerance Masters Inc is a precision contract machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting machining processes to manufacture high-precision components for the aerospace and defense industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision machining, turning, grinding, CNC technologies, and manufacturing systems, with a focus on efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
HOURS
Monday-Friday, 40-hour work week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and optimize processes, design fixtures, and create equipment strategies to support the whole manufacturing process
Analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and innovative approaches or a breakthrough technology
Collaborate with sales, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with specifications
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related issues
Maintain process documentation, including routings, drawings, work instructions, and SOPs
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment using the necessary PPE
Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
10+ years of related experience in a precision machining or aerospace/medical manufacturing environment
Experience with CAD, modeling, and detailed drafting practices
Strong knowledge of GD&T, inspection techniques, and quality management systems
Understanding of CNC machine operations, tooling, and G-code programming
SKILLS
Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with heat treating metals
Experience with automation and robotics in machining
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principl.es
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
Associates degree in a machining or a related field
