HOURS
Monday-Thursday: 6:00AM-4:30PM
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate advanced sanding equipment to smooth, finish, and polish aerospace materials such as aluminum, titanium, composites, and other specialized alloys
Apply exact sanding techniques to achieve specified surface finishes, tolerances, and cosmetic requirements as defined in engineering blueprints and technical drawings
Inspect each component after sanding to ensure it meets quality standards and is free from defects, imperfections, or other discrepancies that could affect performance or safety
Prepare and treat surfaces for subsequent coating or assembly processes by ensuring uniform texture and finish
Accurately document work performed, including machine settings, materials used, inspection results, and any deviations from standard procedures
Work closely with engineers, quality control inspectors, and other manufacturing personnel to ensure parts meet design specifications and are ready for the next stage of production
Maintain sanding tools, including periodic cleaning, calibration, and replacing worn parts ensuring equipment operates at peak performance
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant training in manufacturing a plus
Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, particularly in finishing, sanding, or polishing roles within aerospace or a highly regulated industry
Strong knowledge of sanding techniques, abrasive materials, and finishing tools used in aerospace manufacturing
Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-precision work
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and safety protocols
Familiarity with advanced sanding equipment, such as orbital sanders, belt sanders, or pneumatic tools
Knowledge of aerospace coating, bonding, or finishing techniques
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
Able to lift up to 20 pounds as needed
Dexterity to handle small tools and components with precision
