Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. As dedicated cloud regions continue to expand and grow, Infrastructure Operations is looking for builders to take on the challenge of scaling network systems allowing us to stay ahead of customer demand. The role involves working in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and to automate and scale network operations.

The position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows; participate in migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and inter-connectivity issues; deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows; collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Travel within the geographical work area is required; up to 40% travel outside traditional work area may be required, possibly including international travel, with experience in small project scopes and ambiguous details.

Typical Day

A day in the life includes attending meetings, executing center change management activities, deploying hardware, connecting cabling, troubleshooting links, updating tickets, and collaborating with peers across AWS to improve processes and customer outcomes.

Team and Environment

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure, including data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, security experts, and operations professionals, collaborating across AWS to deliver safety, security, and capacity for customers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment (e.g., VFL, power meter, OTDR)
  • General understanding of data center infrastructure components
  • 3+ years of mid-level or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA
  • BS in Information Systems or Computer Science or relevant certifications
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies including routers and switches and networking protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Additional knowledge of data center infrastructure components
