Role and responsibilities
The Manager of IT Product Management will lead a team of Technology Product Management Leaders who define business problems requiring technology solutions and guide development teams through delivery. The selected candidate will support the team in realizing business benefits and defining requirements that translate into valuable business solutions and technology systems. The Manager will work with business users and cross-program stakeholders across the technology delivery lifecycle, including discovery, design, construction, transition, and implementation. The role requires the highest levels of customer service, communication, productivity, and professionalism, with strong analytical skills and Costco retail domain expertise.
As the primary conduit between employees and upper leadership, this role communicates and models the company values and guides a culture of engagement, trust, and open communication.

Responsibilities
- Integrity: Lead by example; handle employee concerns per ethics standards and follow through to resolution.

- Review workload, set productivity standards, and conduct yearly performance reviews with ongoing coaching.
- Respond to employee concerns with problem-solving skills and discretion per Costco policies.
- Develop and maintain team atmosphere through mentoring and recognition of performance.
- Involves in hiring decisions, interviews, and offers; build and inspire a high-performing team of product management professionals.
- Utilize internal tools and an iterative mindset to foster autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation and learning.
- Promote continuous improvement in identifying, defining, and delivering technology solutions that align with program goals and Costco Travel and Costco Wholesale.
- Develop trusted relationships with key business stakeholders and technical leaders to drive delivery efficiencies.
- Manage budgeting for software, hardware, and training needs; participate in long-term technology strategy development.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors as needed to support solution delivery.
- Aggressively remove obstacles to keep programs on track; lead critical initiatives with agile leadership.
- Identify process improvements that provide labor and cost savings.
- This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).
Required
- 3+ years supervisory experience in information technology and ability to direct technical work teams.
- 5+ years in information technology, including leading teams in systems analysis or software engineering.
- 3+ years leadership experience in agile software development.
- 5+ years planning, organizing, and directing software development projects.
- Proficiency in mentoring teams in methodologies, standards, and processes for technology solutions.
- Ability to mentor experts in requirements elicitation, authoring, and software delivery in an agile environment.
- Ability to align with diverse stakeholders across departments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to critical issues.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage with all organizational levels.
- Ability to convey complex information clearly; lead by example to build loyalty and commitment.
- Understanding of technologies and products needed to bring travel solutions to market at scale.
- Outstanding collaboration skills in cross-functional, matrix environments.
- HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).
Recommended
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent training and experience.
