Overview
North American Sort Centers (NASC) Engineering is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering project leader to spearhead the development and implementation of next generation sortation and transportation systems. The successful candidate will influence both design engineering and process design engineering aspects of North American Sort Centers, driving innovation and efficiency in these facilities.
If you're energized by leading next generation engineering projects alongside industry leaders and harnessing advanced technologies in developing state-of-the-art sortation and logistics systems, this role offers significant autonomy to tackle complex challenges and pioneer solutions that integrate automated material handling equipment, innovative packaging technologies, and advanced robotics.
This position offers the opportunity to revolutionize the design of world-class sortation centers and logistics systems on a global scale, with a focus on end-to-end ownership of Process Designs that complement each facility design.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the sortation and transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in short timeframes.
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
- Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects.
- Communicate the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in developing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams such as mechanical engineers, hardware engineers, SI engineers, diagnostic engineers, and manufacturing engineers, as well as with outside vendors and developers.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Strong financial and business acumen supporting product development.
- Masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience with project management of technical projects.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $155,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $269,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
