Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care in an organized and compassionate manner as per the state Nursing Board scope of practice and establish rapport with patients in alignment with the service philosophy.
  • Coordinate all infertility diagnostic tests and treatment plans with patients at the direction of physicians.
  • Review medical records and ensure appropriate data are entered into the patient’s EMR.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care activities, including history and physical review, medications, routine orders, assisting physicians with exams, preparing supplies, taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy and injections as directed, and preparing daily reports for physicians.
  • Answer patient questions regarding cycles and calendars; follow up after ultrasound scans; and maintain accountability for infertility/IVF patients including ultrasounds, lab tests, and physician orders.
  • Communicate with patients regarding medications, treatment plans, and test results in person or by telephone.
  • Perform intrauterine inseminations and follicular ultrasound scans, as directed, if applicable.
  • Administer IVs, RhoGam, Methotrexate, and any SQ/IM injections, as applicable.
  • Document and place patient plans, interactions, and orders into the EMR; manage prior authorizations and ensure all consents are signed timely.
  • Provide education to patients about infertility testing, procedures (including IVF and related steps), and plans of care; monitor pregnancies via ultrasonography and labs through the first 10 weeks; provide emotional support.
  • Obtain necessary medical clearances (e.g., cardiology) and ensure compliance with protocol requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and handle on-call shifts as assigned.
  • Assist with disability forms as needed; perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interface with patients, physicians, and staff across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize, pay attention to detail, and adapt to interruptions.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tasks and EMR systems; ability to learn and master relevant software.
  • Commitment to confidentiality of patient and clinic information.
  • Team-oriented with flexibility to perform duties beyond individual roles as needed; ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Support the organization’s vision and mission; participate in identifying problems and suggesting solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Graduate of a certified nursing program; RN with a valid state license.
  • Current state RN license without limitations; ability to maintain required continuing education credits for renewal.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Working Conditions

  • Requires working under stressful conditions or irregular hours; exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
  • Flexibility in changing patient census; ability to work with a variety of patients and staff; may require independent or team work.
  • Ability to adapt to and follow established protocols and procedures; moderate noise level in the work environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone; clear communication with patients.
  • Ability to bend, reach, perform repetitive hand movements, stand, walk, and occasionally lift, push, and pull as part of regular duties.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 2+ years of experience in women's health, fertility, OB/GYN.
  • 3+ years of nursing experience in other RN roles.
