Overview
Physician / Family Practice / Texas / Permanent / 1099 Contractor position with the Federal Bureau of Prisons South Central Region. The provider will deliver general physician coverage and services via telemedicine and on-site visits at BOP facilities within the SCR, including the Dallas/Fort Worth area and surrounding locations as needed. Responsibilities
Take medical histories, examine patients, and order/interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and imaging (e.g., X-rays). Make diagnoses, provide treatment plans, prescribe medications, and clinically manage injuries (suturing, splinting, immobilization). Attend to medical emergencies and provide emergency services as required. Document in the Bureau of Prisons Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) on the day of evaluation; record progress notes and recommend necessary outside consultations; instruct, counsel, and order or carry out therapies. Provide emergency consultations when deemed necessary by the Clinical Director or designee. Perform minor surgeries using local anesthesia during consultations as appropriate. Coordinate with staff and consulting physicians to plan, implement, evaluate, and revise program plans; manage conditions, resources, and policies essential to delivery of health care services. Manage the daily operation of the chronic care clinic (CCC), conduct sick calls as needed, obtain health histories, record findings, and provide clinical evaluations; ensure compliance with AAAHC, ACA, and Program Review guidelines. Provide a wide range of emergency and primary care services, including trauma life-saving procedures. Qualifications
Physician with a current and valid medical license to practice medicine in any state. Board certification or eligibility is not required. Must be able to verify credentials and provide proof of malpractice insurance. Experience practicing General Medicine; preferably with inmate populations or in inmate facilities.
