Job Title: Sr UI/UX Designer – Medical Device
Job Location: Boston, Massachusetts (Fully Onsite)
Type: W2 contract
Duration: 6 months
Overview
The Senior User Experience Designer will be on concepting product user interface design solutions for Surgical Robot's that align with surgeons’ and surgical staff’s expectations and abilities, with a particular eye towards safety and ease of use. Specifically, in this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and/or improving user experience reducing usability risks for patients and surgical staff, improving usability workflows, and adhering to our brand guidelines. Responsibilities
Concept and design product user interfaces for surgical robots ensuring safety and ease of use. Maintain and improve user experience to reduce usability risks for patients and surgical staff. Improve usability workflows and adhere to brand guidelines. Communicate design vision, research needs, and detailed designs verbally and visually using tools such as Miro, Figma, and Microsoft Office products. Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Engineering, and Systems teams to socialize and workshop design concepts. Create proof-of-concept models to communicate design intent and demonstrate product potential. Support and guide product labeling and the creation of technical documentation such as user manuals, IFUs, and Quick Reference Guides. Qualifications
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in UX Design or related design field with relevant or equivalent experience, or a known certificate program with related bachelor’s degree. Years’ Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a UX Design role; 2 years’ experience in medical device or related industry preferred; 2 years demonstrated experience as a User Experience lead for new product development. Experience and requirements to be successful in this role:
Experienced in all phases of the product development process—from research to concept development to frontend development—with clear and compelling visual communication; prototype continuously; test designs with users; translate results back into the design process. Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc., with a problem-solving mindset. Experience working in Agile teams or a Scrum development process. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to defend ideas and accept objective criticism. Experience collaborating with Industrial designers, UX Architecture designers, software developers, requirements, and product management to communicate design intent. Experience creating design concepts that communicate design intent and demonstrate product potential. Experience contributing to product labeling and instructional content. Experience using design tools such as Figma, Principal, and Miro. Familiarity with relevant quality regulations (21 CFR Part 820.30), human factors/usability engineering standards (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75), risk management (ISO 14971), and FDA guidance is a bonus.
