Overview
The Director of Specialty Alignment and Operations is master's prepared with outpatient administration experience and is responsible for the administration and oversight of multiple service lines and site operational budget, development/management, program planning, human and material resources allocation. They will report to the Executive Administrator KCMG and collaborate with KCMG Executive Leadership to design, develop, implement and expand the service lines resources needed to meet contractual agreements to customers, USC Hospitals and USC Care. The Director is an essential contact and leader for KCMG newly onboarded physicians. The Director of Specialty Alignment and Operations ensures the development and implementation of patient care standards across the service lines ensuring there is consistency and compliance policy and procedures, professional practice standards and the continuous delivery of efficient and cost-effective patient care services. They will have oversight for the services provided in service lines with practices located at various sites including the HSC campus and our community offices. The Director of Specialty Alignment and Operations analyzes data and information to increase access and growth, reduce costs, and create efficiencies within each department. Engages in process improvement, program and system implementation, and facility projects to support and meet the Keck Medicine of USC goals and objectives. The Director ensures timely feedback and suggests solutions concerning providers, and patient, operationalizes the growth and development of the practice(s) and new service opportunities by utilizing the proper allocation of resources and sound financial management. They support their leadership team, offers guidance to managers and directors under his or her supervision, effectively delegating responsibilities, and duties. Achieves a collaborative working environment. They ensure operations are appropriately delivered. Ensure smooth transition to onboarding newly employed and aligned physicians. Partner with all departments to create synergy and coordinate seamless workflows. Collaborate with the Executive Administrator and Medical Director(s) to implement evidence-based practices and drive continuous improvement in clinical quality, patient safety and patient experience. Responsible for developing quality metrics across the network of providers/service lines/clinical programs, to include reporting, measurement, and monitoring. Work closely with clinical leadership to optimize resource utilization and control costs. Will assist in recruitment and timely onboarding of community physicians to ensure appropriate administration of salaries and benefits in accordance with established guidelines and in compliance with labor agreements. The Director keeps lines of communication open to ensure a professional, positive working environment. Continually focus on developing an employment culture that embraces high-quality care and employee satisfaction. They are an active member of the leadership team and communicates regularly with leadership, the applicable department administrators, division chiefs and Department Chairs. Essential Duties
Operations, Growth and Management: Participates in establishing systems within the departments which support and practice shared governance management philosophy. Participates with Executive Administrator KCMG, Ambulatory Chief Administrative Officer, CNO, Medical Director, USC Care CMO and local management to optimize clinical operations and drive outcomes. Ensure policies and procedures are in place and followed for continuity of planned care. Ensure proactive, high quality communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care. Work with physicians and staff to assure adequate availability to meet requirements and internal Department standards, including staffing plans and contingency planning. Work with Managers, supervisors, IT and Ambulatory leadership to ensure practices are compliant with quality and financial metrics by performing periodic audits of records. Work with Medical Director or USC Care CMO and individual physicians to support compliance. Monitor space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resources. Participate in the design of new space, expansion and integration projects as applicable to the service line. Oversee the transitional process of new acquisitions and participate in due diligence meetings. Maintain liaison between USC Care Medical Group ambulatory services and department leadership through meetings and communications. Interface with HR, Billing, IT, legal and other departments. Collaborate to ensure correct EMR billing codes and address physician questions. Coordinate, develop, and implement the organization\'s strategies related to physician integration, development, and practice support services. Direct the expansion of the managed care delivery network and access to medical services in the surrounding communities. Develop programs to maintain effective healthcare relationships. Build relationships with community physicians and coordinate outreach with marketing. Design programs to develop relations between the healthcare system and physicians, and represent the organization in professional settings to establish partnerships. Financial: Contribute to developing and monitoring the operational budget, analyze variances, and use the budget to improve care delivery. Review, authorize and monitor expense reports; submit exceptions to finance; train leadership on financial policies; review payroll for compliance; ensure patient charges and collections are submitted timely; ensure invoicing and physician payments are accurate and timely. Leadership: Promote effective communication and collaborative relationships among multidisciplinary teams. Serve as a coach and mentor to foster innovation. Identify and implement cross-training and changes in staff design and task distribution to improve service delivery while ensuring safety, legality and customer service. Facilitate staff and physician training and optimize use of software platforms and digital technologies. Cultivate relations with key physicians and providers, maintaining physician peer and administrator relationships. Human Resources: Work with Human Resources to ensure workable staffing plans for areas reporting to this role. Select and retain qualified clinical and administrative staff aligned with USC Care Medical Group/KCMG philosophy. Ensure wage and hour law compliance and regulations. Coordinate staffing needs for hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, compensation and performance management. Conduct regular leadership meetings and huddles. Service/Patient Experience: Contribute to customer service standards and monitor satisfaction among employees, patients and physicians. Business Development: Lead business development activities for the service line including hospital collaborations, physician outreach, CME programs and community outreach. Oversee joint ventures or partnerships and implement strategic business plans aligned with the service line\'s vision and goals. Quality: Ensure provision of services with qualified staff; maintain policies and procedures; ensure standards of conduct; coordinate audits, data collection and reporting; oversee quality activities with the lead clinical team and USC Care Chief Nursing Officer, ensuring timely reports and follow-up. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 5 years leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Proficient in MS Office, Outlook and HRMS systems. Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and administration. Critical thinking skills. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Preferred Qualifications
Master\'s degree in related field (e.g., Healthcare or Business) in progress or completed. 3 years operational experience in the ambulatory setting. Required Licenses/Certifications
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration date (Required within LA City only). The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00.
