Overview

The Senior Pool Manager works directly with the Recreation Supervisor to oversee the seasonal operations of both Legion Pool and the VFW Aquatic Facility. This position is responsible for supervising pool managers and pool staff and is the primary communicator between the pool facilities and the Recreation Supervisor. Overseeing daily operations, including supervising pool personnel, ensuring collection and security of revenue, and adequate record keeping are primary responsibilities of this position along with assisting the Recreation Supervisor with pre-season administrative tasks, staff trainings and post-season closing procedures and reports. This seasonal, hourly position will work 40 hours per week during the pool operating season, June-August, as well as flexible part-time hours during the pre-season and post-season, performing administrative tasks. This individual will cover periodic weekends as needed and will work primarily on-site at both pool locations, as well as in an office setting. Responsibilities

SAFETY

Works with pool managers to ensure the safe and proper operation of both outdoor pool facilities; ensures all facility rules and safety guidelines are posted and followed; reports breaches of rules as necessary Expels swimmers if necessary, for willful disobedience of pool rules Aids in responding to emergency situations and completing required documents for adequate record keeping Notifies City Staff of weather or chemical related facility closings

MAINTENANCE

In cooperation with maintenance staff, ensures our pool managers monitor and maintain pool filtration systems; oversees general maintenance of outdoor swimming pools and facilities Monitors pool water chemistry and conducts water sample testing to ensure proper water chemistry levels and adjust as needed to maintain standards Assists with pre-season facility preparation and post-season clean-up and closing procedures Ensures pool facilities and surrounding areas are cleaned and sanitized properly

ADMINISTRATIVE

Prepares and distributes facility information to the public in order to promote programs, events, policies, and facility updates Ensure cash drawers have adequate change; exchange cash denominations if necessary Responsible for overseeing admission and concession financial reporting, inventory, and ordering; troubleshoots equipment malfunctions Monitor facility equipment, supplies, and material quantities and prepare request for inventory ordering including cleaning supplies, first aid supplies, concessions, and chemicals Assists with registering patrons for pool memberships, swim lessons, and other aquatic programs Ensures all operational and financial records and reports for pool facilities, including but not limited to, attendance reports, water chemistry, cleaning, inventory, timesheets, deposits and Health Department required documents are submitted, maintained, and accurate. Prepares pool manager binders and staff handbook binders, including pre-season staff training itineraries and manuals Handles patron complaints and concerns effectively and with consideration, using good public relation skills

STAFF

Assist in hiring process of staff, if necessary Trains and instructs pool staff as outlined by management, including but not limited to, staff safety trainings, in-service meetings, and certification courses Collaborate with internal and external departments, if applicable, for various trainings Schedules and assigns pool managers Assists and trains pool managers in scheduling of pool personnel to include lifeguards, assistant managers, and facility attendants. Supervise and monitor all pool personnel. In conjunction with pool managers and Recreation Supervisor, conducts staff performance reviews and end of season exit interviews Aware of, abides to, and enforces swimming pool personnel policies Assist with the supervision of lessons to ensure correct teaching methods are being applied; ensure proper attendance records are being kept Ensure staff is uniformed correctly and carry proper safety equipment Assist Recreation Supervisor with coordinating American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED for the Professional Rescuer course for lifeguard staff and American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED for facility attendant staff. Assist pool managers with staff skills reviews. Substitute for pool managers as needed during staffing shortages and/or conflicts Performs other related duties as assigned or required

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR techniques and proper use of AED Knowledge of Instruction of swimming skills for lessons Knowledge of Prevention of accidents related to and around a pool and pool facilities Knowledge of City of De Pere’s policies, procedures, and emergency action plans Knowledge of Pool Facility Policies and Regulations; guidelines related to aquatic industry in accordance with the Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection Knowledge of Basic pool chemical testing techniques and maintenance operations

Work in team-based environment to achieve common goals Motivate staff to develop necessary job related skills to improve job performance Effectively train and supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling and distributing work Conduct and analyze water chemistry tests to ensure proper water safety conditions Maintain accurate records and submit necessary reports Perform lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED techniques Exercise tact, maintain composure and professionalism and use good judgement in resolving disputes and differences arising between the general public and/or employees Troubleshoot and resolve wide variety of issues, scheduling conflicts, personnel issues, behavioral issues, customer service complaints Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the general public, employees, and community leaders Promote and enforce safety and health regulations Handle emergency situations effectively and efficiently Understand and follow written and oral instructions and procedures Use computers and related program and registration software Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing Work indoors in office setting and outdoors in varying summer weather conditions Lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds Work as necessary on days, nights, weekends, and holidays during the pool operating season, pre-season start up, and post-season close down

Qualifications

At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid and current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications or equivalent training. Supervisory experience preferred. LGI and WSI certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
