GAF is seeking a high-energy sales professional with a track record of building successful relationships and closing new business. The Territory Manager – Steep Slope is responsible for the sale of the complete line of GAF residential roofing products. You will act as a liaison between GAF and our clients, ensuring both sides are supported. This position will be remote and cover the majority of Suffolk County (East End of Long Island), with occasional travel outside the area. Essential Duties
Attack: Pinpoint market opportunities with contractors, distribution, lumber dealers, retail, and co-ops; build lasting relationships while juggling competing priorities and client requests. Build: Own, progress, and close the sales funnel through value-selling of GAF products; overcome objections and convert hurdles into growth opportunities. Persist: Use strong negotiating tactics leveraging value propositions and pricing strategies. Strategize: Compile reports on hits, misses, learning, competitive landscape, and next steps; identify opportunities to exceed expectations and position clients as leaders in their space. Consult: Influence the building materials industry; network to become a trusted advisor. Educate customers with product knowledge via distributor/contractor meetings; explain pricing and communicate good & bad news tactfully. Stand Out: Represent GAF at customer shows, conventions, and industry events. Impact: Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude while balancing fun with work; work with diverse groups to achieve territory sales goals; use social media for market insight. Win: Build immediate rapport and close the deal. Qualifications Required
H.S. Diploma or GED Required Driver’s license required 3+ years of sales experience or 1+ years in building materials General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Physical ability to perform duties described, including occasional lifting and outdoor work in varying conditions Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone Dexterity for standard office tasks Ability to travel within the territory by vehicle Qualifications Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree Sales experience in building materials; multi-channel experience selling roofing materials Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office CRM/Salesforce experience preferred Ability to work independently on competing priorities Ability to travel in the assigned territory Bilingual is a plus Travel Requirements
50%–70% travel, with occasional weekend travel Compensation and Benefits
Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges, exclusive of benefits and bonuses; total cash compensation range: $128,000–$176,000 (base + annualized commission target). Offers depend on location, experience, education, and qualifications.
