About the Campaign Melat Kiros is running a bold, progressive challenge in Colorado’s 1st Congressional District, taking on a Democratic incumbent. Our campaign is people-powered, rejecting corporate PAC money, and fueled by a digital-first strategy and community presence.

Role Overview We’re looking for a campaign manager who can lead operations while building an insurgent, digital-first campaign. This role blends campaign management with digital communications, creating content, amplifying Melat’s voice online, and translating that energy into people power, engagement, and fundraising.

The Campaign Manager will be the central leader of day-to-day operations, responsible for overseeing staff, volunteers, and consultants, ensuring the campaign is on track to meet ambitious goals. They will also be responsible for ensuring that every digital moment ties back to Melat’s values and community engagement and that our campaign feels more like a movement than an outdated machine.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves building teams, and understands how modern campaigns blend digital communications into every facet of the campaign.

Core Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

Develop and execute the comprehensive campaign plan (budget, operations, ballot access, communications, strategic scheduling, stakeholder engagement).

Set and adjust goals with the candidate and consultants; ensure alignment across fundraising, communications, field, and political outreach.

Supervise staff and consultants (field, finance, comms); drive a culture of performance, accountability, and clear delegation.

Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the candidate, community, consultants, and staff; troubleshoot strategic, personnel, and logistical challenges.

Digital & Content

Build and oversee a social-first strategy.

Manage content production and creation from idea to post: volunteer-generated videos, memes, livestreams, rapid-response moments.

Coordinate influencer/micro-creator partnerships and progressive media placements.

Empower volunteers as creators and community members; source content from supporters, local influencers, and grassroots groups.

Manage and run livestreams (IG Lives, TikTok AMAs) to keep the candidate accessible.

Track weekly analytics and optimize content for reach, donations, and mobilization.

Maintain radical accessibility online: monitor and engage with DMs/comments, invite community voices into campaign content.

Field, Organizing & Voter Contact

Lead community-first organizing: pop-up events at bars, coffee shops, music venues, and recreation centers.

Use digital platforms to recruit volunteers and convert online energy into door knocks, phone banks, and voter contact.

Manage voter-contact programs (canvassing, phones, volunteer mobilization) in coordination with the Field team.

Fundraising & Finance

Oversee and drive fundraising activities: candidate call time (lists, scripts, tracking), grassroots drives, digital donor pushes, and events while integrating digital appeals with comms and moments.

Manage the campaign budget and cashflow in collaboration with finance staff and consultants.

Communications & Press

Oversee and drive public communications; ensure message discipline and consistency across all platforms.

Draft press materials (releases, advisories, speeches, public-facing collateral); serve as spokesperson as needed.

Align earned/digital media with fundraising and organizing to maximize impact.

Political, Coalition & Community Relations

Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, unions, elected officials, endorsers, and community leaders.

Collaborate with progressive coalitions (e.g., DSA, WFP, Justice Democrats, labor allies, grassroots groups) to expand reach and credibility.

Build a true community-first campaign that puts people first.

Operations, Scheduling & Compliance

Manage the master calendar and strategic scheduling. Ensure FEC and state compliance: filings, reporting, and documentation in partnership with compliance consultants.

Maintain operational systems for data, reporting, and decision-making.

Troubleshoot strategic, personnel, or logistical challenges to keep the campaign on track.

Qualifications Required

2+ cycles on competitive congressional campaigns; deputy-level experience or higher strongly preferred

Proven leadership of fast-paced teams; clear delegation and prioritization under pressure

Deep digital fluency: social-first strategy, content workflows, analytics, and influencer/community engagement

Background in digital communications, storytelling

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed

High professionalism and political judgment; alignment with progressive values

Preferred

Prior end-to-end management of a competitive U.S. House campaign

Experience supervising staff and volunteers in high-pressure environments

Track record converting online engagement into field mobilization and small-dollar fundraising

Press-facing experience and comfort as an on-the-record spokesperson
