Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the AVP is a full-time, benefits eligible position that conceptualizes and directs comprehensive, integrated marketing, communication and public relations campaigns aimed at advancing the College mission. This includes leading brand management and brand compliance and overseeing all institutional marketing channels and tracking their performance. The AVP for IMC leads a team of 20-30 across public relations, digital marketing, marketing management and creative services disciplines. This is an at-will position. All applicants who apply before the Priority Review Date of 10/17/2025 will be given priority consideration during the review process. Responsibilities
Develop and execute an integrated college marketing strategy that aligns with SLCC’s mission, vision, and values, raising the college’s visibility and profile to recruit and retain students and garner philanthropic and legislative support. Utilize a mix of paid advertising, digital communications, direct mail, social media, public relations, coordinated sponsorship, and special events to increase awareness and build the college brand. Evaluate marketing spending to identify ineffective or duplicative efforts and redirect funds to techniques with greater impact on enrollment, retention, and brand awareness. Develop systems to measure the effectiveness of marketing programs, track results, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement. Consult with students, alumni, administrators, faculty, staff, and community members to improve SLCC’s marketing and communication activities and tools. Manage vendor relationships to create strategic, creative marketing materials aligned with the college’s goals and strategic priorities. Lead college brand management, including messaging, design, and brand compliance across the institution. Oversee all institutional marketing channels, including integrated awareness and lead-generating advertising campaigns, public and media relations, social media, multimedia productions, publications, and the website. Manage the IMC team and resources to support strategic marketing. Support senior leadership, including the President, Executive Cabinet, Board of Trustees, and general boards. Perform other duties as assigned, such as professional development, campus collaboration, and compliance monitoring. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated strategic, research, analytic, and budgetary skills. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and methods of creating and tracking complex marketing, communications, and public relations plans. Demonstrated ability to understand and utilize web content strategies to drive engagement and track key conversions among target audiences. Experience balancing competing priorities and personalities, working with cross-functional teams of peers, managers, subordinates, and vendors to implement marketing/communications plans. Thorough understanding of content development for multiple audiences, as well as content management and quality control for various communication vehicles including publications, collateral materials, and websites. Demonstrated success in developing and leading teams. Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and within specified budget. Strong supervisory skills, including mentoring and training staff for the success of activities, department, division, and institution. Ability to maintain confidentiality of materials and information. Keen attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies and offer creative solutions and efficiencies while thinking globally. Demonstrated experience proactively working with administrators, faculty, and staff at all levels to develop and implement plans that improve the quality and impact of SLCC’s marketing and communication activities. Experience working in a Marketing, PR, or Advertising Agency. Experience working with diverse teams with a range of talents and lived experiences. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Direct full-time marketing/communication experience, with direct supervisory experience managing staff of marketing/communication professionals or service providers. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree. Minimum five (5) years of direct full-time marketing/communication experience, with minimum five (5) years direct supervisory experience managing staff of marketing/communication professionals or service providers. Minimum five (5) years of budgetary experience with annual budgets in excess of $500K. SLCC Information
