The Director of Human Resources is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR, including payroll, HR operations, administrative and business professional recruitment, performance management, compensation, benefits, compliance, and culture. This highly visible role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensuring that human capital strategies align with organizational goals while fostering a culture of engagement, inclusivity, and high performance. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing HR team. Oversee payroll and HRIS functions. Recommend and execute improvements to HR policies and procedures. Manage staffing assignments and coverage logistics for administrative staff. Direct talent acquisition for administrative and business positions, including sourcing, selection, and candidate experience. Develop HR metrics and reporting to identify trends and inform hiring and retention strategies. Advise managers on employee relations and personnel matters. Design and oversee onboarding for administrative and business hires; incorporate feedback to improve the new hire experience. Collaborate with legal counsel as needed on sensitive HR issues and investigations. Conduct exit interviews for administrative and business staff; analyze data for trends. Oversee benefits administration, total rewards, and wellness initiatives to ensure competitiveness and employee satisfaction. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Lead organizational and change management initiatives. Draft and distribute internal communications regarding leadership updates, policies, events, and HR initiatives. Partner with other departments to support firmwide initiatives. Maintain a strong professional network to benchmark best practices. Participate in committees and special projects as needed. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred). 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven ability to lead strategic HR initiatives in a mid-size to large organization, ideally within professional services. Experience managing administrative staff is preferred. Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation structures, and organizational development. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. High degree of confidentiality and integrity. Strategic thinker with the ability to align HR initiatives with business goals. Strong technical skills and ability to adapt to new systems and tools. Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred. Seniority level
