Overview
The Department of Clinical Sciences at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University invites applications for a full-time clinical track faculty position in medical oncology. This position focuses on clinical activity and clinical teaching in the Harrington Oncology Service in the Foster Hospital for Small Animals. Appointments at any rank in the clinical faculty track are available, depending on qualifications and experience. The position is on the continuous term (tenure-equivalent) track.
Harrington Oncology Program The Harrington Oncology Program has a robust clinical caseload and teaching programs. The successful candidate will be part of a team of four medical oncologists and two radiation oncologists. The program features a dedicated wing with a chemotherapy hood, treatment area, anesthesia equipment, and state-of-the-art equipment including a Canon Aquilion Exceed LB CT, 3.0T MRI, a Varian iX linear accelerator with RapidArc, a 120 leaf Millennium multileaf collimator, and on-board imaging, including cone beam CT, Mosaiq Record & Verify system, and Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. The Clinical Trials Office coordinates clinical studies and trials.
The Foster Hospital for Small Animals handles 35,000 cases per year and offers specialties in diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, oncology, and ophthalmology. The emergency service provides 24/7 care and is Level 1 Trauma Center.
Responsibilities and Time Commitment Clinical faculty appointments include approximately 30 weeks of assigned clinical time, with about 17 additional weeks available for off-clinic teaching, scholarly activity, and service. Faculty are expected to engage in professional development and scholarly activity to stay current and to participate in collaborative clinical trials research. Vacation and university time off is 5 weeks.
Qualifications Requirements include a DVM degree or equivalent and completion of a residency in medical oncology. Board certification is required at or within two years of hire. Demonstrated interest and aptitude in teaching is required. Appointment rank and salary commensurate with experience and interests.
