The Donor Relations Officer is responsible for securing funds for Wheeler Mission by managing a group of assigned mid-level donors (400-700), ensuring donor retention at or above the previous year and deepening engagement with the mission. The role moves potential and current donors through Wheeler Mission’s engagement pipeline, combining administrative work with personal contact to build relationships. The role requires approximately 25% direct donor meetings and 75% administrative work through various communication platforms. The officer develops relationships and identifies donor interests, aligning them with organizational priorities to help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals with Wheeler Mission. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Brief description of duties in order of priority. Steward a portfolio of individual and institutional donors who give $1,000+ annually, using data-driven analysis to target opportunities for increased giving. Collaborate with the Donor Relations and Donor Services teams to plan and implement donor education, engagement, and stewardship programs (e.g., written touchpoints, impact reports, event invitations, tours, volunteer experiences). Identify potential middle/major gifts or legacy candidates and coordinate with the appropriate Donor Relations Officer for next steps. Key Area: Strategic Planning

Track past activities and plan future donor engagement using donor software; create individual goals and cultivation plans for each portfolio member. Partner with other Donor Relations Officers on prospective mid/major donors or legacy giving candidates. Work with the Donor Research Analyst and Director of Donor Services to generate reports supporting the strategic plan and its effectiveness. Develop strategies to engage participants and volunteers as potential mid/major supporters in collaboration with Events and Volunteer teams. Key Area: Donor Engagement and Development Strategy

Develop and implement stewardship strategies and materials to enhance donor engagement and loyalty. Collaborate with the Director of Donor Services and Donor Research Analyst to maintain accurate donor records in the CRM; analyze performance metrics for mid/major donors (attrition, retention, growth, average gift). Review performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly; provide guidance on giving opportunities including estate planning, stock gifts, and asset donations. Communicate priorities to donors and prepare proposals to secure gifts when appropriate. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree; 1+ years of development/marketing/sales experience preferred. Technical/Software Knowledge Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Experience with CRM software and donor databases; data analysis experience. Understanding of nonprofit fund development processes and theory (preferred). Mission Alignment Belief in the inerrancy of the Bible; alignment with Wheeler Mission values; adherence to employee policies. Physical Requirements Ability to type and operate standard office equipment; work in an office with extensive computer use and in varying weather conditions when needed. Other Requirements

Full-time 40-hour position; typical hours 9:00–17:00 with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some remote work may be possible. Assist with donor events (e.g., Drumstick Dash, 100 Holes for the Homeless) as needed. Local travel with occasional facility visits.
