Overview
San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), a nonprofit, WASC-accredited university in Fremont, California, seeks a Director of Career Services to provide vision and strategic leadership for campus-wide comprehensive career services for undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. This position reports to the Dean of Students and is exempt and full-time. Candidates must reside in the local area or be willing to relocate. Serve as a University expert and thought leader on best practices in student career services. Develop programs based on career needs that reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and social identities of SFBU students and areas of study. Articulate and monitor emerging career and employment trends, identify stakeholder and employment needs, and communicate changes in professions/industries to the campus community. Work with university leadership to develop employer relations strategies that expand employer involvement and deepen engagement with students; build new employment pipelines for SFBU students. Ensure an employer outreach strategy that identifies employers who share SFBU’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and inclusive workplace practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and manage internships, co-ops, and other experiential learning opportunities; partner with academic and advancement colleagues to increase access and funding for unpaid internships and related experiences. Coordinate with Alumni Relations/VP of External Relations to maximize alumni involvement in career development, graduate school preparation, and career advising for alumni. Optimize technology and databases to enhance communication among students, alumni, and employers. Manage the career services platform (Handshake) and the mentorship platform (Mentor Collective). Required Qualifications
Master’s degree (emphasis in educational leadership, higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources, or related field). Five to seven years of relevant experience in a career office setting. Strong organizational, program development, and communication skills. Extensive experience with presentations, workshops, educational or training events. Creative thinking and reasoning abilities. Experience establishing community and corporate partnerships in support of student employment. Ability to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff. Willingness to assist the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs team in other projects as assigned. Salary Range:
$100,000 - $125,000/year, depending on qualifications and experience. Physical Characteristics
The employee is required to crouch, walk, reach, grasp, carry, and push. The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods. Application Process
