University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Health Sciences Department is seeking applications for the Dental Assisting part-time lecturer position. Date posted: February 21, 2025; Closing date: Continuous Recruitment. Location: Kapi'olani Community College. Title: Lecturer, CC (Dental Assisting Program). Position Number: 0002LEC. Hiring Unit: Health Sciences. Salary: Minimum $1,911 per credit hour; subject to lecturer placement. Employment status: Part Time Temporary; Funding: General Funds. This position is for placement into the lecturer pool beginning Fall 2025, subject to availability of funds and staffing requirements. Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in the assigned subject area. Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress. Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes. Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations. Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area. Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught (20 minutes per credit per week). Classes may be offered online, during evenings and/or weekends. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Sciences or Biological Sciences, AND 3 years of experience with teaching in health education courses or programs and/or work experience in dental assisting, AND must have current Dental Assisting National Board "Certified Dental Assistant" and any current dental assisting credential required by the State of Hawai‘i; OR Certification as a Dental Assistant; AND Baccalaureate degree or higher in any field, AND 5 years of experience with teaching in health education courses or programs and/or work experience in dental assisting, AND must have current Dental Assisting National Board "Certified Dental Assistant" and any current dental assisting credential required by the State of Hawai‘i; OR Certification as a Dental Assistant, AND Associate degree in any field, AND 7 years of experience with teaching and/or work experience in dental assisting. Must have background in and current knowledge of the specific subjects they are teaching, AND must have current Dental Assisting National Board "Certified Dental Assistant" and any current dental assisting credential required by the State of Hawai‘i. Desirable Qualifications

Work experience related to courses to be taught. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively. Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction. Application Process and Notes
