This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Naval Base Kitsap is located in Kitsap County and is composed of Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor and Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton. Each base has its own specialties: Bangor works with the submarine communities and Bremerton with the ship communities. Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton is connected to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, which handles major ship and submarine overhauls. The towns of Bremerton and Silverdale are economically tied to the Department of Defense. Additionally, Naval Hospital Bremerton is a fully accredited, community-based acute care and obstetrical hospital hosting a variety of specialty clinics.

Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor is located on the Kitsap Peninsula across Puget Sound from Seattle. Travel options from Seattle include ferries or driving routes via I-5 and state routes to Silverdale and Bremerton/Silverdale. From SEATAC, the drive is approximately 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Follow signs for Main Gate entrance.

Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES:

Serve as the primary care physician for adolescent and adult patients.

Order full range of radiology and laboratory tests, make diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Teach and provide consultation to other health care providers as assigned.

Complete required records pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.

Provide oversight as the medical director of the troop medical clinic, immunizations team, and soldier processing center.

Performs Other Duties Assigned.

Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs or other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, transcripts may be required.

Basic Requirement for Physician (Family Practice):

Degree:

Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. The degree must be accredited by the relevant U.S. medical education bodies. A foreign medical degree must have equivalency demonstrated by ECFMG certification, fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure:

Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state or territory.

Graduate Training:

After obtaining the MD or DO degree, at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first-year residency) in a hospital or accredited training institution.

Residency Training:

Must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Medicine and equivalent experience and training of at least 4 years. Experience may not substitute for the required residency training.
