Overview
Chief Medical Officer – Eastern State Hospital (ESH). We seek a self-motivated, forward-thinking physician for a vital leadership role dedicated to partnering with people who need access to care and support. ESH provides long-term psychiatric care to adult civil, forensic, geriatric and habilitative mental health patients. Located 15 miles west of downtown Spokane, Washington. ESH is a 375-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and CMS-certified. The CMO plans, organizes, controls and evaluates all clinical administrative components to assure a supportive environment toward delivering the highest quality services. They supervise a senior medical leadership team and provide clinical and administrative direction to medical and clinical staff. On-site work at this location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Occasional travel between facilities and headquarters is required. Office-based but also circulates throughout the facility for rounding, case conferences, supervision of care delivery, and communicating executive leadership policies. Primary Responsibilities
Innovative Leader : Administer and coordinate psychiatric and medical services; provide consultation on clinical matters related to nursing, rehabilitation, and other professional services. Direct and coordinate services by conducting supervisory meetings and unit rounds, reviewing reports to ensure appropriate use of resources, and assigning staff to meet ESH goals. Strategic Partner : Collaborate with executive and senior leadership to meet organizational goals and optimize processes and services. Lead planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and professional services. Participate in developing and implementing ESH’s strategic direction; articulate it to medical staff and delegate key activities to ensure timely execution of goals and objectives. Direct program development and implementation of medical and psychiatric initiatives. Talent Developer : Transform clinical leadership into collaborative, high-performing teams. Supervise clinical and professional services through subordinate physicians and provide guidance in medical and clinical management for patients. Data-Driven Visionary : Use technology and data to foster relationships and continuous performance improvement by collaborating with leaders and administrators from BHOs. Align hospital clinical practices with applicable data reporting policies. Collaborative Physician Executive : Ensure medical department goals, standards, policies, and procedures meet certification and safety/quality requirements for patient care. Ensure compliance with regulations, laws, procedures, and policies including RCW, WAC, Department of Health regulations, and DSHS/BHHA/ESH policies. Note:
Occasional travel, and on-site presence required for rounds and leadership activities. Qualifications
Valid medical license in Washington state with Certification in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Demonstrated medical executive leadership experience.
