Public Works Project Analyst I (Procurement and Contracts) Filing Deadline: October 10, 2025 Hourly Rate: $45.7485 - $58.9650 Plus excellent health and retirement benefits, and 3% COLA increase in 2027. The Town of Los Gatos is accepting applications for the newly created Project Analyst position in the Parks and Public Works Department. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop a vital role within our organization. The Project Analyst I is the entry-level classification in the Project Analyst classification series. Under close supervision, the Project Analyst I performs a variety of non-confidential analytical, technical, and administrative duties related to the management support of municipal programs, operations, services, policies, and processes. See the full job description here. Responsibilities

Supports municipal Parks and Public Works programs, services, and operations through research, analysis, and administrative project leadership. Supports the preparation and review of consultant agreements, professional service contracts, and related procurement processes. Prepares, edits and presents a variety of documents such as staff reports, policies, ordinances, and procedural guidelines to the leadership team, Town Council, boards and commissions, the public, etc. Serves as an administrative project lead, coordinating assigned projects without direct supervisory responsibility. Works collaboratively with senior administrative staff, department leadership, and cross-departmental teams. Conducts research and analysis to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies, and procedures. Develops, administers, and monitors contracts, grants, budgets, special projects, business and legal documents, as assigned. Provides feedback on documents developed by members of the PPW leadership team. Conducts organizational, program, and policy-related studies and presents findings and recommendations. Compiles and analyzes data, prepares presentations, and supports leadership in decision-making processes. Provides staff support to senior administrators, Town leadership, boards, commissions, and committees, as assigned. Demonstrates strong analytical, writing, and research skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and presentations. Has knowledge of local government processes, contract management, and policy development. Is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with staff, leadership, elected officials, and the public, and has strong presentation skills. Builds and maintains positive, professional working relationships across departments and with community partners. The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, with evening meetings. A flexible work schedule option may be available. About the Department

The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure. Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism. The Department has five service areas: Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders. Engineering

includes capital planning and project delivery, traffic engineering, and land use review and administration. Park and Streets Operations : This dedicated team of field staff manages the Town’s 113 miles of roadways and 17 parks and open space areas. Fleet and Facilities : The staff in this team manages all Town-owned buildings and oversees the Town's fleet, including public works heavy equipment, and Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department vehicles. Arborist Services : The Town Arborist manages the Town’s 14,000 trees, and oversees routine maintenance of these trees and the administration of tree removal permits. Environmental Services : Environmental staff work with the Town’s stormwater and waste hauling joint powers authorities to ensure compliance with state and federal laws related to these technical areas. Administrative Services : The Administrative team supports department operations, providing budget management, contract and procurement quality control, fiscal administrative support, park reservations, preparation of reports and documents, and various other services. About the Town The Town of Los Gatos is a general law city operating under the Council/Manager form of government. The Town Manager and Town Attorney are appointed and directly report to the Town Council. The Town’s 150 full- and part-time employees are organized into the following departments: Parks & Public Works, Community Development, Police, Library; and Administrative Services. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Project Analyst I : A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Project management and government sector experience are desirable. Acceptable Substitution Additional years of analytical or administrative experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in one of the related areas above may be substituted for one year of work experience. License and Certification Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver’s license may be required for some assignments or responsibilities.
