FY26: Extraction Transformation & Load (ETL) Analyst Programmer - Dept of Student and Data Systems, 8hrs/12mo, Ad Closes 10/17/2025
This position reports in-person to CESC in Rockville and will involve working with the data warehouse team on ETL development and data tasks. A technical assessment will be part of the selection process.
Summary
Works closely with project management and data warehouse development teams to create and maintain multi-dimensional data models for the data warehouse ETL architecture. Designs and codes ETL processes, administers change controls, monitors production data loads, translates requirements into specifications, and documents business processes and data requirements. Monitors ETL performance, tunes production data loads, coordinates tool releases, conducts testing, provides production support, and implements interfaces to source systems while balancing target-to-source data alignment.
Responsibilities
Develop data transfers using Microsoft SSIS and reports using Microsoft SSRS; experience with SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS; Power BI development is a plus.
Collaborate with project management and data warehouse teams to translate requirements into ETL specifications.
Monitor ETL performance and production data loads; perform testing and validation; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Manage change controls, release management, and documentation for ETL processes.
Interface with source systems and ensure data integrity and reconciliation between target and source data.
Qualifications
Strong technical and analytical skills in dimensional data modeling, structured batch programming, and database principles.
Experience with database platforms related to data warehouse operations; ability to tune ETL performance.
Ability to work independently and within a team under time constraints; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of the SSPGS core competencies is a plus.
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience designing, programming, maintaining, and tuning ETL processes; monitoring and troubleshooting ETL production jobs; creating system requirements and test plans.
Familiarity with data warehouse architecture, performance considerations, SQL, data modeling tools, and database access tools.
Excellent communication skills and ability to learn business practices and concepts.

Wage range: $39.92 - $57.29 per hour, based on MCPS years of service.
