Essential Functions To provide oversight, direction, and development for the communications and marketing functions of the Office of Research and Innovation. Responsible for leading and managing internal and external communications and marketing strategies. Core Responsibilities Provides leadership oversight, direction and coordination for communications and marketing functions for the Office for Research and Innovation. Serves as the lead editor for all communications and publications. Writes, edits, formats, and assembles documents and publications for the department, ensuring that they comply with the University standards and requirements. Develops and strategically maintains Facebook, Twitter, and other media accounts. Produces and distributes the department's electronic newsletter and oversees and maintains the department's Facebook page. Works with University Communications and Marketing to create a uniform image, brand, and messaging for the department in alignment with the University’s values and strategic priorities. Develops and implements strategic communication plans to assist in effectively communicating department activities and programs. Serves as the website coordinator for the department. Develops, maintains, and updates the website; coordinates updates and content review and revisions; ensures the website complies with University, System, and State mandates, guidelines, and legislation, while supporting strategic communication goals. Coordinates and manages specific programs for the departments and colleges related to soliciting and securing funds, aligning with broader fundraising strategies. Prepares grant proposals, informational materials, and reports to advance fundraising efforts for the unit. Collaborates with Directors on university publications and outside media. Ensures that materials produced by University Communications and Marketing, as well as other University offices, are accurate, up-to-date, and strategically relevant to the Office of Research and Innovation. Collaborates with the Directors on maintaining website material pertinent to department initiatives in a strategically organized manner. Oversees development and maintenance of a record (electronic and physical) of the department activities and events in support of long-term strategic planning and reporting. Acts as a liaison with other University communication staff to coordinatte strategic communication initiatives. Coordinates with Directors at the beginning of each new academic year to determine program needs and establish strategic communication goals. Drafts remarks, speeches, letters, and acknowledgments for the Vice President and their direct reports. Prepares comprehensive reports and proposals regarding programs and services to inform strategic decision-making. Performs other duties as assigned in support of the department's strategic objectives. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited institution. Eight (8) years of progressively responsible communications and public relations experience including at least three (3) years in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated experience with word processing, desktop publishing, presentation, and web design software. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field. Similar experience at an institution of higher education or a non-profit organization. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing. Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Information

Office environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required. Physical Demands

Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. This position will require working primarily on the UT San Antonio Main campus with responsibility across six campuses. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
