Reading Homeroom With Heart House
We are grateful for your interest in volunteering. Commit just 1 hour a week (Sept–May) to support a student’s literacy and emotional growth. No experience needed—just a passion for helping kids succeed. Make a lasting impact, one child at a time. Join us in providing essential one-on-one tutoring to the children of refugee and immigrant families in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas. Our diverse student population at McShan and Jill Stone Elementary Schools in Dallas ISD come from at least 15 countries and speak over 30 languages and dialects. Most of our students are Emergent Bilinguals. We offer a structured reading intervention program to support their reading and language acquisition skills. One-on-one tutoring:
Support students in developing their phonics, reading, and English acquisition skills. Build positive relationships and boost student self-confidence. Co-Tutoring:
If you’d like some more balance, pair with a partner to tutor a small group of students or one student together. (please note this interest in your application).
