The
Protestant Contemporary Music Director (PCMD)
will facilitate the worship life of the Initial Entry Training (IET) Protestant consolidated service at Fort Jackson, SC. This role provides weekly contemporary worship music leadership, directs rehearsals, and supports special services to ensure full and active participation of the congregation. The PCMD will collaborate with chaplains, staff, and musicians to deliver a high-quality worship experience aligned with the Command Master Religious Program (CMRP). Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Protestant Contemporary Music Director will: Provide
weekly contemporary worship music and direction
for the IET Protestant consolidated service, leading worshippers in 1–6 songs by singing and playing keyboard/guitar Arrive 15 minutes before and remain 15 minutes after services for preparation and recovery. Prepare and deliver
digital worship media
(e.g., Proclaim, PowerPoint, CCLI slides) weekly, in coordination with chaplains and COR. Provide recommendations regarding new worship music trends and presentations. Participate in
weekly rehearsals
and ensure musical excellence for each service. Perform at
special services and ceremonies
(e.g., seasonal services, command-sponsored chaplain-led events). Attend and participate in
special service rehearsals
as coordinated with chaplains and COR. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and a worship-focused demeanor in all activities. Education and/or Experience
Required: Demonstrated experience as a Music Director in contemporary Protestant worship settings. Minimum of
5 years’ experience
playing instruments (keyboard, guitar) and leading contemporary worship music Strong familiarity with contemporary worship music, including selections from popular sources such as Maverick City Music, Gateway Worship, and Elevation Worship. Ability to prepare digital media and coordinate technology for worship services. U.S. citizenship and ability to pass required background checks/security clearances. Preferred Skills: Formal training in music, worship arts, or a related field. Experience directing choirs, bands, or small ensembles. Proficiency with digital worship software, media design, or audio/visual systems.
