Summary

Together with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and the Philanthropy Team, this position will plan and execute fundraising and stewardship events to further and support the J’s strategic plan. This position serves as the staff point person for several events, programs, and activities including J’la, the J’s largest fundraising event, and all J Associates (our all-volunteer women’s auxiliary) events. Responsibilities

Serve as the primary staff contact and project coordinator for the J Associates. Work with the J Associates President and Executive Board to plan, facilitate, oversee, and implement activities such as annual events, monthly programs, grant allocations, and fundraising. Create event timelines, comprehensive project plans, and budgets. Execute on timely basis and within budgeted parameters. Work with J Associates President and Executive Board to maintain social media, website hub on jccstl.org, and any other community calendars available for J Associates. Prepare and provide Agency updates for J Associates’ board meetings which promote and encourage participation. Maintain J Associates membership and participate in strategy for developing membership roster. Have a portfolio of 10 – 20 donors/prospects, primarily from J Associates and other relationships. Responsible for planning, organizing and executing the annual J’la fundraising event, the largest fundraiser at the J, including managing the co-chairs and the committee process. Also coordinate the J’la sponsorship benefits, handle vendor management, coordinate marketing efforts and manage attendee details. The Special Events Manager will work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer on other donor and J events such as the annual Millstone event and the annual meeting. Create, edit, and supervise mailing of all marketing materials for J Philanthropy Department events. Position requires creating copy and proofreading/editing every type of materials for both print and online use. Together with the Chief Philanthropy Officer work with special event volunteer cochairs and committees. Closely track revenue and expenses for assigned events. Assist with donor stewardship and cultivation as appropriate. Other duties as assigned by manager. Qualifications

BA/BS degree preferred 2 to 5 years of increasingly responsible event planning experience with demonstrated success in special events is required. Experience with sponsorships, annual campaigns and direct mail is preferred. 2 to 5 years’ experience working with volunteers is strongly desired Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) Must be able to organize and implement strategic plans (financial, business development, marketing, branding, etc.), work independently as well as part of a team, follow through on assignments and prioritize competing tasks Some Judaic knowledge and a deep commitment to the J mission and vision are preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access). Proficiency using Salesforce and online event platforms (Classy, Traction Rec) is strongly desired or a demonstrated ability to learn new software programs in support of one’s work.
